We kicked off our reporting at Tufts Medical Center, where we had some amazing interviews. For those who want to dive deeper into the subject of antibiotic resistance, we have provided an extended interview transcript with Dr. Helen Boucher, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Tufts. We learned some fascinating things from her, like the fact that there is a debate going on right now as to whether or not you should finish courses of antibiotics. Paul followed with two NewsHour Making $ense pieces on the economic difficulty of incentivizing research to develop new antibiotics. Then, together we tackled the elephant in the room: the vast use of antibiotics in agriculture.

Our team traveled to Frankenstein, Missouri, where we met farmer Russ Kremer, who chose to stop feeding his pigs antibiotics... and is doing better than ever.
