This was filmed on Kilauea, on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Kilauea is one of the most active volcanos in the world, erupting since 1983.
Volcanologists have been studying this volcano since then--and they know better than anyone the dangers present out in the field. Miles saw this first-hand when he visited Kilauea and met veteran researcher Mike Garcia--even though Garcia was very careful, the hot rock burned his soles clean off his shoes.
